Death toll in blast at Iranian port rises to 40

According to latest figures released by Iranian authorities, the death toll in the massive fuel tanker blast and subsequent fire at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas reached 40, Mehr news agency reported.

More than 1000 people were injured in the blast, according to the report.

The explosion occurred on April 26 in the key Iranian port.

The cause of the blast is under investigation.

Iran declared April 28 a national mourning day.

Shahid Rajaee Port is located in the north shores of the Strait of Hormuz.
